The Challenge
When Pat first reached out, she was feeling overwhelmed and discouraged by her existing website. Built on WordPress by another company, the site had become increasingly difficult to maintain. Images throughout the website no longer displayed correctly, her logo appeared as a broken image, outdated plugins caused ongoing issues, and perhaps most importantly, her contact form had stopped working altogether.
Despite repeated attempts to get help, her previous website designer had stopped responding, leaving her with a website she couldn't confidently update or rely on.
Pat was referred to me by one of my longtime clients, and what she needed most wasn't simply a new website—it was the reassurance that someone would guide her through the process and create a website she could trust.

The Approach
After learning about Pat's practice and the clients she serves, it became clear that her website needed to communicate warmth, hope, and encouragement while making a significant amount of educational content feel approachable.
For prospective clients who are unfamiliar with Healing Touch, providing detailed information was essential. The challenge wasn't deciding what to include—it was deciding how to present it in a way that felt approachable instead of overwhelming.
Through thoughtful page organization, clear visual hierarchy, and strategically placed anchor navigation, we created a website that invites visitors to explore at their own pace without feeling overwhelmed by the amount of information. Visitors can quickly jump to the topics they're interested in while still having access to the detailed content Pat wanted to share.
To further personalize the experience, I incorporated nature-inspired artwork created by one of Pat's family members throughout the website—a meaningful detail that reflected both her personality and the peaceful atmosphere she wanted visitors to experience.
The project also included SEO foundations, image optimization, metadata, accessibility-minded image alt text, and copywriting guidance. I created an initial content framework and introductory copy to help Pat get started, giving her what she later described as "a beautiful place to start" as she developed the rest of her website copy.
The Outcome
The finished website replaced an outdated, unreliable WordPress site with a modern Squarespace website that's easier to manage, more welcoming for prospective clients, and thoughtfully organized around the needs of Pat's ideal audience.
More importantly, the project gave Pat confidence that her website was finally in capable hands. Instead of worrying about broken features or unanswered emails, she could focus on serving her clients while knowing her online presence accurately reflected the care and compassion she brings to her practice.
When Pat later chose to pause her practice, I helped archive the website and prepared a backup version so it could be restored whenever she was ready to return. Although the website is no longer live, the project remains one of my favorite examples of creating a thoughtful, supportive experience that extends well beyond launch.
