Goat Friends Animal-Assisted Therapy

Portfolio Concept

A thoughtfully crafted brand identity concept for a fictitious animal-assisted therapy practice.

The Design Goal:

This portfolio concept was created to explore what a complete visual identity could look like for an animal-assisted therapy practice. Rather than designing for a specific client, I wanted to create a brand that felt authentic to the unique experience of therapy involving animals while demonstrating my approach to designing for mental health professionals.

The imagined practice specializes in working with children, families, trauma survivors, and neurodivergent individuals, including autistic clients. The brand needed to feel professional enough to inspire confidence while remaining warm, approachable, and welcoming to people of all ages.

The Approach

Goats became the heart of the brand because of their naturally curious, playful personalities. In my experience, and according to many others, they are affectionate, social, and full of character—qualities that make them feel approachable without losing the sense of calm and trust that's important in a therapeutic setting. Their size also offers a comfortable middle ground for clients who may feel intimidated by larger therapy animals.

To reflect those qualities, I hand-illustrated the goat icon before digitally refining it into the final logo suite. The finished identity includes both primary and secondary logo variations designed to work across a variety of print and digital applications.

The supporting color palette combines warm yellow, navy, soft orange, muted green, and cream to create a visual identity that feels optimistic, grounded, and nature-inspired. Typography was selected to balance professionalism with friendliness, creating a brand that's equally inviting to children and reassuring to parents and caregivers.

The Final Concept

The completed brand identity demonstrates how thoughtful design can help communicate a practice's personality before a client ever schedules an appointment.

Beyond the logo itself, I explored how the visual identity could extend across real-world touchpoints, including business cards, signage, social media graphics, apparel, window decals, and promotional materials. Designing these applications helped ensure the brand felt cohesive, recognizable, and flexible across a wide range of uses.

Although Goat Friends Animal-Assisted Therapy is a fictional practice, this project reflects the same collaborative, strategy-first approach I bring to every branding project. It also represents the type of thoughtful health and wellness businesses I enjoy designing for.

Design Highlights

  • Hand-Drawn Logo: The goat icon was originally drawn by hand before being refined into a polished digital logo, creating a mark that feels both personal and distinctive.

  • Nature-Inspired Palette: Warm yellows, greens, navy, cream, and soft orange create a welcoming identity that balances professionalism with warmth and optimism.

  • Designed Around the Audience: Every design decision was made with children, families, trauma survivors, and neurodivergent individuals in mind, creating a brand that feels approachable, trustworthy, and calm.
